Objectives
To develop and implement a two years in service training course for principals in primary and secondary education on Curaçao (Netherlands Antilles). The level of training should be equal to a bachelor degree (in The Netherlands).
Description
Based on the curriculum of the Dutch School for Education Management (NSO, Amsterdam) and in cooperation with Netherlands Antilles Center for School Improvement (NA-CSI, Willemstad) a two years pilot was completed in the fall of 2004. The Curaçao Education Management course covers all relevant dimensions of up to date school management, including innovation management, personnel management, financial and business management, education infrastructure and educational leadership. In the pilot 50 (future) principals participated; a repeat course with another group of 50 participants has commenced in May 2004. An accreditation by the NSO was realised by the end of 2004. The modules of the course are taught by experts from the Antillean education and business community and by staff of NA-CSI in cooperation with APS International.
