Objectives
The project’s goal is to equip teachers and schoolleaders for realizing modern preparatory vocational education on Curaçao.
To realize this objective local trainers receive training and coaching to deliver the actual training to teachers. Part of the training is actually being delivered by Dutch trainers.
Description
Vocational education in Curaçao is being transformed into a modern concept. This concept asks for new educational content as well as new pedagogical and didactical skills of teachers. APS International, in cooperation with Na-csi Curaçao is responsible for developing and delivering teacher trainings concerning these newly required skills. Every individual teacher receives one or two courses out of the following subjects:
-
Coaching skills
-
Coping with different pupils in the classroom
-
Pedagogical skills of vocational teachers
-
School practice mentoring
Each course consists of six meetings.
Schoolleaders are responsible for leading the change process in the schools. They are trained to become change agents. In this training, consisting of seven daily meetings during 1,5 year, relevant aspects of managing and leadership are delivered.
Whereas all of these trainings are cross school, on each school there is a education work place for teachers and peer consultation on a regular basis. In this education work place teachers work to implement lessons learned in the training into their daily educational practice.
Funding
Government of Curaçao.
