Studytrips and Conferences
APS International is able to organise different kinds of studytrips and conferences for partners and clients. These can be studytrips in which a Dutch delegation goes abroad or a group of foreign teachers or school leaders coming to The Netherlands.
Examples of studytrips which were or will be organised by APS International in the last two years:
A study visit to The Netherlands for 30 Swedish career counsellors of the Skane Association of Local Authorities in May 2005. The career counsellors visited a number of organisations of career development in The Netherlands: schools (secondary, pre-vocational, community colleges and higher education) and the Centre for Income and Work. They met representatives of AOB (private career services), NOBOL and NOLOC, the branche organisation for career workers in the private sector and the National Resource Centre for Career Education and Guidance. Annemarie Oomen hosted and organised this five days studytrip.
The Real Game Conference 2005 was held at APS in The Netherlands. Representatives from the USA, Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and New Zealand exchanged experiences, learned about new applications and prepared for future developments.
In cooperation with Centre of Training and Schooling Amsterdam and Education Leeds, APS International organized a trip to Leeds (UK). Dutch school leaders and business representatives went to learn about public-private cooperation in the education sector.
A group of 25 principles of pre-vocational education in the south of The Netherlands visited Ontario in March 2006. They met students, teachers, principles and board members in the Toronto region. For example, Halton Board presented a Grade 7 and 8 emphasis (students age 12-14). York Region presented two brand new schools, one under construction, a completely computer-based Grade 9 facility, a luncheon prepared by hospitality students, and a tour of facilities for seven broadly-based technology programs. Annemarie Oomen hosted the group in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in Ontario.
A group of 130 teachers, head teachers, deputies and Local Educational Officers from Hungary visited primary ´adaptive teaching´ schools in the Netherlands in June 2006. Besides meeting pupils, teachers and principles, local educational officers and board-members; the participants have been offered workshops during a one-day conference at APS premises. This studytrip was organised as part of the 3-years MATRA project in which APS International and OKI cooperated succesfully (2003-2006).
A course on student orientated education which includes a fieldtrip to Turkey. The main goal is to gain knowledge and insights into the educational and lifestyle backgrounds of immigrant students and their parents. This in order to meet with the demands of a student population (with lots of immigrant students) to the Dutch educational system and its relief organisations.
