Mission of APS International APS International invites teachers to learn about modern models for instruction, based on up to date research based knowledge in such a way that these models can be applied in local settings. We also understand the need to involve principals, parents, education officials and the community at large in any school improvement effort.
APS International aims at generously sharing our knowledge with our partners and clients abroad, and also at learning from them. Crucial in our approach is the need for a sense of mutual development that should be characteristic in our projects. Where ever possible we aim to avoid copying practices from The Netherlands, and we try to design useable adaptations while taking into consideration local, cultural, financial, societal possibilities and constraints.
Brief history APS International Ltd. was founded on 1 January 2003, when APS Netherlands (www.aps.nl) decided to concentrate its growing portfolio of projects outside The Netherlands in a full subsidiary. APS Netherlands dates back to 1949 when a small educational advisory service was founded by the Dutch Teachers Federation under the name of APC. Its principal aim then was to assist teachers in Dutch schools to understand and bring about changes in education. After mergers with similar institutions, in 1969 APS was launched under its present name. APS Netherlands and APS International both are non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations.
