It is the meaning of empowerment that people take control over their own life. Education should learn people how to organise themselves in order to take control. It is interesting then, to learn from people who have acquired empowerment through education: what did they learn, what did they do, how do they organise themselves? Looking for answers the author went to Kisii in Kenya and to Soroti in Uganda, to learners and animators in adult education projects, in order to learn from their experiences.
